Our Building’s History

Building History
Built in 1817, the house situated on 419 Main Street, Wakefield, RI (now 390 Main St, Wakefield RI) was originally an overseer’s house containing a dwelling and barn on one acre of land. This particular Mill House belonged to Rodman Manufacturing Co who owned and operated the old Wakefield Mill until the late 1800’s.

The Rodmans bought and sold the property many times but eventually sold it to Benjamin Wilcox in 1882 for $1.00. His son, Dr. Horace Wilcox, practiced medicine in Wakefield Village. Again transferred back to the Rodmans, the house was then sold to Mary Penn Gardiner in 1905 for $1.00. She and her husband, Dr. Henry K. Gardiner lived there until 1923 when it was sold to Dr. White, the dentist.

2018 brings an exciting change for our historic building. Dr. John Disano of Disano Dental Group is pleased to announce the Grand Reopening of the office in the Spring of 2018. The office has undergone a state of the art renovation and we can’t wait to share it with the community! Be on the lookout for a specific date that you can come tour our new office, you won’t be disappointed!
